Good Morning Church Family!

Hello Church Family!

Recently Henry Blackaby died. Henry Blackaby was very influential in Southern Baptist circles. As a college student I sat next to Henry and his wife for several evenings in a row for a bible conference he was speaking at.  He and his bride were very godly and gracious people.  Blackaby is most known for his book and bible study Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing the Will of God.   Experiencing God lists seven principles that I have found helpful over the years.  I share them below.

Seven Realities of Experiencing God

  1. God is always at work around you.
  2. God pursues a continuing love relationship with you that is real and personal.
  3. God invites you to become involved with Him in His work.
  4. God speaks by the Holy Spirit through the Bible, prayer, circumstances, and the church to reveal Himself, His purposes, and His ways.
  5. God’s invitation for you to work with Him always leads you to a crisis of belief that requires faith and action.
  6. You must make major adjustments in your life to join God in what He is doing.
  7. You come to know God by experience as you obey Him and He accomplishes His work through you.

Last week was a big week at Gethsemane. We appreciate Bryson and Kingdom Vessels for the evening of worship they led in our worship center.  We had over 90 people in the crowd and the Gospel was shared!

Our senior citizens chose a new name for themselves. They are now known as the Seasoned Souls.  Seasoning adds flavor to life.  May our senior citizens seek to be salt and light to our world and live their lives in the pattern of Joshua and Caleb that remained faithful to God in their senior adult years. The Seasoned Souls have a bible study each Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.

This Sunday, we have Life Connection Groups that start at 9:30 a.m.  Let’s make sure all teachers are present before 9:30 a.m.   We have worship service at 11:00 a.m. This Sunday’s sermon comes from Luke 22:63-23:25 and is entitled, “Jesus on Trial.”   On Sunday night at 5:00 we have a Congregational Town Hall meeting. All members, prospective members, and guests are welcome to attend.  Our Transition Team will share a proposal that will positively impact the future of our church. We will share what this proposal to join the Northwood Family of Churches entails and will have a time for question and answer.  Nicole has graciously volunteered to watch children during this hour. Please make every effort to attend.  On Sunday night we will have Crave Youth Ministry at 6:00 p.m.  Discipleship will also take place at six.

Looking ahead…on Thursday, March 28th at 6:30 p.m. we will have a Maundy Thursday Worship Service to remember the sacrifice of Christ.

I love you guys!  Please be in prayer for our church.

Grace to you,
Pastor Jay
